Jane Ettelson

I started playing bridge with my mother and her friends when I was out of school for a semester in my sophomore year of college. Later on, my boyfriend
(and later husband) Chuck and I played social bridge with other couples for a dozen or so years after college.

When our bridge group broke up in the 90's, after the organizer moved away, we decided to give duplicate a try, so we went straight to the Nationals, which,
conveniently were in St. Louis, in 1997. Flush with our heady accumulation of 0.5 masterpoints or so, we retired from duplicate for several years. We then
played in the Sectionals and Regional often enough to become acquainted with some nice players, who uniformly suggested that we play in the club games
regularly. We took up that suggestion, and became increasingly comfortable, though not necessarily successful, at the club games.

I have played regularly now for the past three or four years. Since retiring from St. Louis County in July, 2006 (20 plus years in mental health social work, 2
years in Family Court), I have been "all bridge all the time".

I not only enjoy the competition of bridge, but also the camraderie of the many friends I've met through Unit 143. I am committed to supporting the Unit's
efforts to increase the number of new duplicate players.

I am honored to fill the vacancy caused by Don Weber's impending relocation to Oregon.  His term is due to expire October 31, 2007.
