143 Board Meeting Minutes

A
meeting of the Unit 143 Board was held at 7:00
p.m. on Wednesday,
March 10, 2004 at the Olivette
Community Center
. In attendance were Board members Sandy
Becker, Mary Hruby, Bob Janis ,
Bill Kauffman, Don Kerry ,
Doug & Suzi Moore, Tom Oppenheimer
, and John Samsel, with Rod
Van Wyk presiding. Mike Carmen was
also present.
February
minutes were approved as written.

Corresponding Secretary's Report (distributed by Rod)
Jack
reported that Kinko's can print the addresses from the database
directly on postcards. John will check with other vendors
for prices and get back to Jack.
•
Treasurer's Report
- Tom reviewed the
P & L.
- The Sectional lost
money in line with the estimate by Mike.
III.
Tournaments/Events
A.
March 199er:
Mary is expecting 30 tables.
B.
A motion was made to increase Sectional tournament fees beginning
in May. It failed. The Board will discuss again after the
August Regional when it will be clear whether or not we have
a loss for the year.
C.
Suzi and Bill will look into a policy for naming
games at the Regional.
IV.
Old Business
Bill
presented a draft write-up of the election process for Board
members. It will be distributed at club games pending comments
from Board members.
V.
New Business
•
Barbara Heller in Florida
is proposing a STAC game for August
23-29 to raise money for the non-profit "Bridge at Schools"
project. Sandy
will discuss the idea with the club directors.
•
The April meeting was cancelled.
There
being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:00
p.m.
